About Course
This course is designed for English majors at B2+ level (CEFR) and introduces students to the principles and practices of scientific research in the fields of language education and applied linguistics. It adopts a Flipped Teaching approach, where students engage with instructional videos and academic readings before class, and apply their knowledge through collaborative activities during in-class sessions. E-learning hours are increased to reflect student preparation and asynchronous engagement.”
Throughout the course, students will be guided through the entire research process—from identifying a research problem to drafting and presenting a complete research proposal. In-class activities focus on problem solving, critical thinking, case analysis, and peer review, fostering both individual autonomy and teamwork. Weekly assignments and reflections are designed as cumulative steps contributing to the final proposal.
Students will also develop practical skills in designing research tools, collecting and analyzing basic data, and applying APA referencing standards. The course is supported by an LMS platform that facilitates asynchronous discussion, formative feedback, and access to all learning resources.
By the end of the course, students will be able to formulate meaningful research questions, apply appropriate research methods, and produce a well-structured, ethically-sound research proposal relevant to English language teaching and learning.
